So my brother in-law Darren liked the ornament and asked for a stand for it. This is what I designed. On this option the globe is Maple, flame is white oak and Sapele. The stand for the lighthouse is made of Jatoba. This is the current color of it. Over time it will turn to a vibrant red with the grain contrasting black. It is quite exotic and vibrant look. The base is hollowed out so that the torch sits inside the base.
This is a tree ornament or free standing if you so desire. Made out of Maple, when turned it is set of center 4 times to make the cuts go only partially around. It is about 7” tall. Angel on top is about 1” tall. Eyelet can be installed in top if so desired.
Audra wasn’t so sure about this design. This is a new design I am not so sure about either. Input is indeed needed and grateful on this design. If you have other ideas that would be great. I know many of you are very crafty out there. Thanks.

Xmas Ornament

So here are the finished pictures of the tree ornament. I did get some good feedback about it too which is much appreciated. It is supposed to look like a lantern. It is about 5” long and about 1 3/4” in diameter. This size is probably as small as you want to go due to the size of the windows. Any smaller and your windows would be too small. I have had some requests in alterations, those pictures will be coming as soon as they are made. Thanks for the info.

Turned Christmas Tree Ornaments

Wow it has been a long time since I have last posted. Well I have been busy at the lathe turning several projects. One I just did tonight is a Christmas tree ornament. It is made from Sapele, Walnut, and Maple. I decided I am going to be selling these on demand. They will go for $10.00. This one here still needs to be finished and have the eyelet in the top still installed. You can either email me or soon I will have some in the Track Side Mall in Idaho Falls. It takes just an hour to turn and then another day to finish. Overall I can have them to you in about a week’s time at the latest. Any questions feel free to ask away. Thanks.

First Pen

So I know that it has been forever since I have posted any projects, but it has been a while since I have been able to do any side jobs outside of normal work. So my boss was able to pick me up a lathe and I have been playing around with it making handles for my chisels. Well finally I was able to turn my first pen tonight. I have given it to my wonderful wife Audra. Here are some of the pictures of it. It is made out of Birdseye Maple. The dark spots on the pen are the birds eyes. Pretty cool stuff. The funny thing is we found a bunch of this in some paint grade maple and my boss and I rescued it.

Audra's Coat Rack

So I meant to post this a long time ago, but just never got the pictures taken until recently. So the post is 4" square knotty alder. The base is recessed into the post. My wife has been asking for this for a while. She picked out the hooks from Home Depot. We also decided we had better add one lower for our daughter Myelle. Comments are much appreciated.

A Wooden addition to be excited about!!

Audra went to the doctor yesterday to see how her pregnancy is going. Things are very well and we found out that we are going to have a boy. I am so excited to now have more testoserone in our house. And frankly, a boy to tame the little terror, Myelle, we have now. I have a feeling she is in for an awakening. I am sure she will be a great big sister. Well as things progress I will keep you informed.

Project Drawings

I got some drawings done for my projects. Brett and Brianna have looked at theres and are excited to have it built. Mom has approved hers, but I am still waiting to make sure the measurements are correct. Mom and I still have to decide on drawer front and door styles. They have decided to go with knotty alder and a color still needs to be approved. Anyways here are the drawings.

Moms Entertaiment Center has one drawer for VHS, 4 for CDS and DVDS. The center opening is for her CD player. The top opening is for the players and satellite reciever. The top is 1 3/4" hardwood. The corners are clipped at 45 dedgrees and adjustable shelves will be in the corners. The speakers for the cd player will be off to the sides tucked into a cubby built specifically for them. Now mom and dad just have to decide how big of a tv they want on it.

Brett and Brianna have chose Black Walnut, and excellent choice. It will be accented with Birdseye maple on the drawer front and on the top. The top will have the grain filled so that it will have a mirror finish.
Check back for more pictures!!!!
